the books of summer

i love to read fun stuff in the summer- light, breezy, funny things. (OK, I read that stuff all year round, but especially in summer) Here's the books this beach bum librarian is looking forward to hanging out with poolside this summer:

Scratch the Surface by Susan Conant (coming out on June 7)
The author of a popular series of cat mysteries, Felicity Pride turns sleuth when she finds a cat and a corpse on her doorstep, investigating a host of suspects--and potential victims--that range from an avid pet-hater and a highbrow professor to her number-one rival in the field, in the first in a new series by the author of the Dog Lover's mystery series.

Better Read than Dead: A Psychic Eye Mystery by Victoria Laurie (coming out on June 7)
Hired by a Mob boss who wants to use her psychic talents to assist in some of his business matters and who refuses to take no for an answer,Abby Cooper finds herself working for both sides of the law when the police ask her to use her psychic gifts to uncover the identity of a masked man who has been attacking women around Detroit. Second in a series, and I dug the 1st one.

Celtic Fire by Joy Nash (came out May 31)
Captured by the enemy, Rhiannon, the rightful ruler of the Celts and a beautiful witch, succumbs to forbidden passion with Roman commander Lucius Aquila who needs her help in deciphering his strange visions.

The Givenchy Code by Julie Kenner (came out June 1)

Pretty Poison by Jim & Joyce Levine (came out May 3)

Love her to death by Linda Palmer (came out May 3)

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evie by Marianne Stillings (came out May 1)

Urban Shaman by C.E. Murphy (came out June 1)
