miami yarn madness

on friday, i investigated elegant stitches, a fantastic miami yarn store. it was divine! yarn everywhere, with lots of people on staff to help you. i got some pink stuff for my think pink knit along, and i am going to try to make myself a poncho. a poncho! a nice "sassy summer poncho", using a pattern that a lady at the store made. it's going to be a deep teal with a bright violet trim. yum! and i bought a bunch of other stuff-- then had to go get some stuff for mom's poncho. she fell in love with some lion brand boucle and is having me make her a poncho with it. all you yarn snobs out there, yes, it's true, i like lion brand yarn. it's of the folk. it's not exclusive, rich bitch snooty yarn. long before the snobs of the world got knitting, ordinary folks were doing it with (gasp) craft store yarn and there's nothing wrong with that! that being said, i like to play with high end, fancy imported yarns-- but i won't turn up my nose at good ole lion brand yarn.

the new knit 1 mag was out this weekend so i picked it up-- loved the tropical knit section. gorgeous limes and sunrise colours. now if only i can figure out what i'm doing wrong on nate's damned hothead cap from the stitch n bitch book . . . .
