susan gordon lydon: sex, knitting, rock & roll

i was sad to read about the recent passing of susan gordon lydon, who died on July 15 and was only 61 years old.

i remember when her book The Knitting Sutra: Craft as a Spiritual Practice (1997) came out. i was a relapsed knitter at the time: i had knitted as a child due to my schooling but hadn't done it since then. this book made me want to knit again. lydon's most recent book, Knitting Heaven and Earth: Healing the Heart With Craft, talks about the healing and meditative qualities of knitting.

read the la times full obituary here to learn more about this extraordinary woman who revolutionized the ideas of sex (with her expose on faked orgasms by woman), knitting, and rock & roll (a female trailblazer for rolling stone magazine)
