Yay! we have internet access at home again! i've been sparse because blogging at work is a no no for us in a big way. but now I have DSL- I have joined the space age, kicking my panting and puffing dial up out the window. (I know, can you believe you know someone who still had dial up? I expect to be beat up in my parking lot for admitting to having had it for so long!)

a book that made you cry: I dare you to read Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale and not be wracked with heaving, embarrassing sobs.

a book that scared you: The Stand by Stephen King. Also, all that Ann Coulter stuff. I guess she wants me to hate her or something. She just creeps me out. All that crazy talk!

a book that made you laugh: this is my favourite type of book, I have loads! Probably Bet Me &Anyone but You by Jennifer Crusie are 2 of my funniest faves.

a book that disgusted you: We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will be Killed With Our Families: Stories from Rwanda by Philip Gourevitch. EXCELLENT BOOK: what is disgusting is the way the world ignored the genocide that decimated this country.

a book you loved in elementary school: Harriet the Spy, Carrie, Cujo, The Shining (Yes, my teachers called my parents regularly to complain about my 3rd grade reading list which was mainly comprised of Stephen King. Luckily, my parents ignored them!)

a book you loved in middle school: Anything I could get my hands on. Bonus points if it had sex in it. Forever by Judy Blume was a hot read for us all back then.

a book you loved in high school: Count of Monte Cristo, Animal Farm, 1984, all Agatha Christie novels, Clockwork Orange, Catcher in the Rye. Ooh, and I devoured John Steinbeck novels and read them until they fell apart!

a book you hated in high school: I didn't like the Scarlet Letter much but grew to like it more as an adult.

a book you loved in college: Bastard Out of Carolina, House on Mango Street, Always Running: La Vida Loca, Gang Days in L.A., Interview with the Vampire

a series that you love: Harry Potter, Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire series, Mary Balogh's Bedwyn series, the Poor Relations series by Marion Chesney, Lisa Kleypas's "season" series, Laura Joh Rowland's mystery series set in feudal Japan. . .

your favorite horror book: I have a lot! Probably I am Legend by Richard Matheson (I like all his stuff)

your favorite science fiction book: Damnation Alley by Roger Zelazny, or anything by Ray Bradbury or Philip K. Dick. Going to read Kindred by Octavia Butler next.

your favorite fantasy book: I have so many! Potter to be sure, also Inkheart, Moon Called, Kitty & The Midnight Hour, and Magic or Madness by Justine Larbalestier. RUN TO GET A COPY OF THAT ONE IMMEDIATELY!

your favorite mystery book: again, too many. I read a ton of mysteries. I like quirky ones and classic ones the best. Anything by Agatha Christie, Rex Stout, Erle Stanley Gardner, Laura Joh Rowland, Sujata Massey, Nancy Martin, Carl Hiassen, etc. Many more!

your favorite biography: OK, I love the camp factor of Marilyn Manson's Long Hard Road Out of Hell. Surprisingly good! Also, I love Always Running by Luis Rodriguez, and who can forget And I Don't Want To Live This Life by Deborah Spungen about poor lil' Nancy?

your favorite "coming-of-age" book: I Capture the Castle
