it's hurricane season again, and the red cross has come up with something i thought i'd pass along to my FL friends and also something useful for out of state folks to find out how we're doing after a hurricane! It's the Safe & Well website:
https://disastersafe.redcross.org/
Purpose of the site:
"If you have been affected by a disaster, this website provides a way for you to register yourself as “safe and well.” From a list of standard messages, you can select those that you want to communicate to your family members, letting them know of your well-being. Concerned family and friends can search the list of those who have registered themselves as “safe and well.” The results of a successful search will display a loved one’s First Name, Last Name, an “As of Date”, and the “safe and well” messages selected."
So go ahead and register if you haven't already, Fl people! (or anyone else who lives in a place that enjoys the occasional disaster)
The only thing I bought during our tax free hurricane supply shopping spree was a crank operated flashlight. I need to get more water and stock up on canned cat food, but other than that, we're pretty good. I've got tons of yarn and booze, so I'm pretty satisfied with my ability to amuse myself during any upcoming storms.
